10314 TRUMAN WAY is the original home on acreage being developed as Brook Stone Estates in booming Jeffersontown.   A stately Dutch Colonial built in 1923, its foot-thick limestone walls and detailed chimneys signal the extraordinary quality of its construction at a glance, but closer inspection is like a tutorial in the best of building methods.

A price for 10314 Truman Way will be published here as we near completion.

Our interior renovation plan adapts the home's classic footprint to modern lifestyles by:


  • adding an attached two-car garage;


  • creating a dine-in kitchen from the original breakfast & dining rooms;


  • converting the original kitchen into a utility space;


  • adding a cased opening to the living room to maximize kitchen access; and


  • creating a master suite with en suite bath and walk-in closet.

The developers of Brook Stone Estates have honored this home's history with a corner lot (#17) that is the largest in the development at .4 acre, and the home will remain slightly elevated above those around it. 

When completed in the Spring of 2019, the home will have three bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths, with about 2,700 sq. ft. of living area above ground.   With its new roof, windows, and insulation, this home will enter its second century with no maintenance needs.   The walk-up lower level with its own stone fireplace will be waterproofed and ready for finishing by the new owner. 

With the interior gutted, we're ensuring the integrity of all structural elements and installing completely new electrical wiring, plumbing, HVAC and insulation to modern codes. Oak parquet floors of rare quality are being restored, while carefully salvaged solid walnut doors and trim will be reinstalled, showcasing the home's four stone fireplaces as models of fine masonry that is no longer affordable.
